There has been much excitement and interest over the Rational Open Access: RPG Edition (ROA) announcement from IBM. However the key question on many developers’ lips is how this announcement impacts those with extensive investments in existing RPG code. This session will explore the practical considerations of ROA development including impact on those applications where the RPG source code is not available.
looksoftware has practical experience in writing a sophisticated ROA handler that includes support for ROA and 5250 applications being integrated seamlessly, and providing a genuine path forward in RPG with no re-write requirement.
In this session you can learn from the real world experience of looksoftware addressing difficult issues like:
- Multi-channel interfaces (such as RIA, mobile, rich client, web services and more) from a single handler
- A platform to run Open Access and 5250 in the same session
- Support for web services – your ROA code can be automatically service enabled
- The ability to Open Access-enable your existing source code, as well as develop new functionality in Open Access
