Presentation: Introducing Object Level Security HelpSystems – Authority Search Progression

We’ve all heard the names of the moving components: private, *PUBLIC, authorization lists and adoption; but it’s a rarity to find people that truly understand the full and accurate purpose of these elements and how to combine them into a security plan. This session provides valuable insight to introduce you to the pros and cons of this ‘gold standard’ in IBM i security.

Learning Objectives

This session will define key security concepts that comprise Object Level Security along with a reveal of a few of its limitations. Understand how OLS complements other security initiatives and discover that OLS is far less scary than you may have seen in the movies. Walk away with a deeper respect for IBM i security and a highly-relevant new skill:

  • *ALLOBJ authority
  • *PUBLIC authority
  • Private authority
  • Object permissions
  • Adopted authority
